Centre for Interactive Leadership Director: Bill Miller (BA 1977; Ms. Ed. 1980. . . originally from the USA, but in SA since 1984.
The Origins of Centre for Interactive Leadership: I came to South Africa originally with the intention of spending just one year here. I had married a South African and we decided to live here a year before our roots got too deep in the USA. That initial year was so fascinating (and frustrating, maddening and exhilarating) that it extended to four years, and by that time it looked like I was in for the long haul. After working with a group of consultants for a number of years, I had the opportunity to start my own business when the original firm took a very specific focus and direction.
I have over 25 years’ experience of working with organizations and the facilitation of people development programmes.
Philosophy: The South African market is flooded with “interventions”. Some are very good. . . many are decidedly mediocre. . . still others are a waste of time and money. I try to bring the best of their types to my clients. Everyone wants a return on their investment of time and money. No one wants to be bored. People want to be able to apply something from their learning experience. These programmes are well-researched, robust across a wide variety of circumstances and situations, and used in organizations around the world.
Interventions: The Organization Workshop—Building Partnerships.
SYMLOG Team Development. (Systematic Multiple-Level Observation of Groups)
The Change Cycle Workshops
Time to Think.
Some interventions co-created with clients.
